As we head into October we are only a few weeks away from the start of the new NBA season.
This year’s summer free-agency threw up some interesting moves, the most notable being the massive four-team trade which ended in Howard moving to the Lakers, Bynum moving to the 76ers and Igodula moving to the Nuggets. After all this frantic trading here are 3 questions going into the new season.
1. Who are the favourites for the title?
Current champions Miami heat will again be one of the favourites to lift the title but with the acquisition of Howard and Nash the Lakers have surely got to be the downright favourites? But let’s not forget last season’s runners up Oklahoma City Thunder and the solid San Antonio Spurs. In fact there are 6 or 7 teams that could realistically win the championship. It’s going to be one heck of a season……
2. How good will Anthony Davis be?
When the Hornets got the first round draft pick, there was no question about who they were going to pick. Anthony Davis. Davis has already represented team USA at the olympics and after seeing what he did last season for Kentucky many people are excited. If he fulfils his potential, we could be seeing the next Lebron James in the making.
3. What can we expect from the Bulls this year?
The Bulls were very unlucky to lose Derrick Rose at the time they did last season. Some thought that with the depth the Bulls had that they would be able to survive without Rose and for some time, it looked that they could. That is until the playoffs. After being beaten in the first round by the 76ers and losing key players this summer many are questioning whether the Bulls are still contenders, especially since Rose won’t be coming back any time soon. Guess we’ll have to wait and see………..
Bring it on!!
